That is a dugout canoe at the Hands on Museums. While we were at your house at Christmas, Tony taught John to "kick back," by lying back with his hands behind his head. Now that crops up occasionally and the dugout was the exact right size and shape for it, apparently!
I like the sweater, too. Can you keep an eye out for a couple spare at the Goodwill? But don't worry if it's a problem, I know you don't go there much.
