Roseola

Well, we found out why John has been so irritable (cranky) the past couple days.
He has roseola, a common virus among kids up to the age of 2 or 3.
Here's a Web site if you want to read about it:
http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/roseola.html

He had a fever on Friday, so we kept him home from day care. Yesterday he had droopy eyes (we just thought he was sleepy), and this morning we discovered the rash on his chest and back. We found the diagnosis in "the book" and talked to the pediatrician on call to make sure. We'll take him in tomorrow, just to be sure. Good thing it's a new month, otherwise that would have been three doctor visits in September. Sigh.

He's no longer contagious because the fever is gone, but I will keep him home tomorrow if the rash is still there and/or he is still super-irritable.

Ah, the joys of childhood viruses!
At least it's a common one, and luckily he missed a vomiting virus that his playdate friend had this week! (So far anyway!)

HOPEFULLY this week will be smoother. Maybe?

At least the virus has a nice sounding name. Kind of like a song by some English Folk group or something.
Hey, you just gave me an idea for a blog post. Thanks, Julie!

Jeff!
How can you be a father of a 13-month-old and not be overly familiar with the word vomit?! I guess, just wait until she's three through 10 or so, don't they throw up everything then?
