The boys and I were on our on Halloween night. We walked down to James and Andy's house around 6:30 and then trick-or-treated our way back to our house.
Christopher did not like the jack-o-lanterns on everyone's porch, even though we have three of our own.
John was more into it this year. Christopher needed company and had to be coaxed. Maybe next year, I can stay up by the street...
Christopher and I went home to hand out treats (funny straws, glow sticks, and stickers) and John, Andy, and James continued around the neighborhood.
This is a picture of John in his costume for Storybook Character day at school. He was the pigeon from "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus." Christopher thought it was hysterical and kept saying "No, you can't drive the bus."

Nice costumes! That is a really great pigeon!
I thought the pigeon was very good too. You can't see the hand-sewn felt wings very well. But I think the pigeon did not go over well at school. He said almost nothing when I tried to grill him about how it went, so I dropped it. I think it may be the first scarring parental disappointment in his life to date...
I love the pumpkins, but the pigeon is genius! I can't believe it didn't take first prize at school. Or maybe the pressure was on to recite the book?
Don't worry - you'll find out what happened when John is about 40!
;o)
