The gum-numb stuff is pretty useless, IMHO. It only lasts a couple seconds before they drool it off. Tylenol is more to the point, and gnawing. Have you tried putting an ice cube in a small clean dishcloth rag? Christopher didn't go for it, but it might be worth a try.
That sounds like a good idea - could you use a rubber band to keep it together? NB-When a baby drools more than your dog, it's a clue he/she is cutting a tooth!

Danielle has been whining, chewing and drooling. No doubt she has one coming in, too.
