A new game

John likes playing "base-ketball," the goal of which is to hit the small plastic basketball into the basketball goal with the baseball bat. He hasn't made any goals, but he's getting better at keeping his eye on the ball and holding the bat correctly!

Back home

Well, we made it back home after a full week in Hilton Head. Tony and I had a nice mini-vacation, while John and Keats stayed at our house with Mimi and Pa.
Please check out the day-by-day journal at Grandpaparazzi's Neighborhood if you haven't already. It really kept me going to know that John was having such a great time. Special thanks to the K family for also entertaining John while we were out of town.

We picked John up from school today and he was very happy to see us! He was very huggy then and at bedtime. There were a couple of small meltdowns here and there, mostly just testing to see what he was going to get away with... juice box, sleeping in the big bed, and who's going to control going from one activity to another. He had a great time showing us his new remote control bulldozer, which is in fact very awesome. It even has a button that plays dance music! Wacky!

I think the trip length was just about right... if not possibly one day too long for John...
But we all survived, and it was good for all of us. Now we have a day and a half to transition back into our family unit before moving into real life again! Tony only has five weeks of classes with three weeks of shows, so hopefully we can hang in there until summer!

Here and there

Check out Grandpaparazzi's Neighborhood for some pictures of John at "Grand Camp." My mom and dad are taking care of him while Tony and I are in Hilton Head. Tony is doing a show at South Carolina Repertory Company and I am along for the beach and rest.

Here are some pictures of various events before we left.

Here are some pictures of yesterday, Friday, the day we left.

We have been promised a "highlights reel" for each day, so check back on Pa's blog frequently!

Snow Day!

It started sleeting here around 4pm on Sunday afternoon, then changed over to snow around 5 or so. The flakes were really huge clumps! I think we got about 3 inches.
Most everything in Pickens County was closed on Monday and delayed on Tuesday. John and Tony had a great time playing all day! (I worked because of course, there is never inclement weather when your office is in your den!)

These pictures were taken Sunday night. John had fun throwing snow at the garage door, kicking over little snowmen we made for that purpose, and picking up snow. It was no trick to catch snowflakes in your mouth, because anytime you looked up, the snow fell in your mouth, your eyes, nose, etc.

These are from Monday. There is also a series of short films in the postproduction stage that will be posted sometime soon.

Here's a new one ...

Last night Tony and I were sitting at the dinner table, starting our meal. We opt not to force John to start dinner with us if he isn't ready, since it's a battle to keep him in the chair even if he is ready. He usually joins us a few minutes after we sit down anyway. This time, he comes into the kitchen with the shade from the lamp on my nightstand. We didn't really question him about it. Just put it out of his reach and proceeded with dinner. Thankfully, he didn't break the bulb or the lamp itself in this process. And the shade is fine, despite a trip downstairs. It's still a mystery why he did it, though. I don't think he's ever even seen us take a shade off to change a light bulb! It's always something new...

Here's the boy:
